A Very Cool, Very Colts Thing To Do

I woke up this morning and as usual logged into the computer and started to check out the Colts web page and the Colts Cook Truck and came across this written part on the Colts Cook Truck this morning.

This small article written by the Colts Cook Truck and also an article by the Executive Director of the Glassmen's, shows and says what it is all about when it comes to Drum Corps.

These young men and women come from different parts of this great Nation, they have personal goals and dreams, they sweat, bleed and cry for 12 minutes of glory on the field of battle.

The Colts came to support one of brothers the Glassmen's and the Colts showed their professionalism as I read both these articles this morning.

From the Colts Cook Truck:

As you may have heard, the Glassmen drum and bugle corps had an accident with their volunteer bus. Last night in Normal, after they performed, the Colts stayed in uniform and arced up near the Glassmen's trailers. When the Glassmen came off the field after they performed, the Colts played their corps song "Morning" for the other corps in a show of support. A very cool, very "Colts" thing to do. "It was a nice way to honor them and support them," Rod says.

DSO and The Colts Independence Pops Concert

Rebecca and I went out to watch the DSO and the Colts in the Independence Pops Concert at the Dubuque Fairgrounds. Alot of folks came out to watch this event even through the possibility of foul weather.

The weather held and there was a nice breeze and the concert was a great success I thought. The DSO played great music and at the end they played each branch of services song asking them to stand as they played a branch.

The Colts played their season show as a stand still and the music again was better then the last time I saw them. They are getting stronger and stronger each and ever time I see them. The brass line came back on and played four songs at the end with the DSO.

It was a great time and great music.

Sarah Treated For Knee Injury At Bethesda Naval Hospital

I received a phone call from Sarah and she told me that her knee was giving her a lot of pain and that she went through rehearsal and did not say anything to any one and I told her not to be a hero and that she needs to talk to a staff member and see if she can be seen at the Bethesda Naval Hospital just 30 minutes away from their housing site.

This was on the their free night in Maryland and Sarah went through rehearsal that morning and instead of a night out with her peers she went to the Naval Hospital to get her knee checked out.

About a couple of hours went by and I finally heard from Sarah and she stated that the doctor said that it was a strain and that she needs to ice her knee after rehearsals and take some over the counter meds for the pain.

Sarah said that this is not going to stop me and that I am moving forward pain or no pain, this will not stop me.

I am glad that it was only a strain and nothing else. I checked with Sarah a few days later and her knee is feeling better at this time.

Sarah is hit in the Face with a flag pole

I got a phone call from Sarah and she said that she was in the war zone. Sarah said that she was taken out by a color guard member and her flag pole during rehearsal.

All of a sudden I was hit in the face and I felt some pain in my lip said Sarah. It really hurt and I moved off the field and I had blood all over myself.

In the end Sarah had a cut lip and it bleed pretty bad for awhile before slowing down. Sarah had to take a day or two off from playing the trumpet so the lip would heal but she was still out there doing the drill and other requirements.

Colts Dog and Pony Show Rock Island IL

Rebecca and I traveled down to Rock Island to pick up Sarah and another Colts member on Friday evening the 12th and brought them back to Galena so that they could take their ACT tests in Dubuque Iowa on Saturday morning the 13th. After they completed their testing we drove them back to Rock Island and stayed around for the show and took some pictures again.

As always these kids are giving 100% on the field and you can see it in each and ever one of them and it was a really good show.

Sorry folks for making these enteries here late as I have been really busy with work. WOW the Colts were here in Galena Illinois from June 5th through the 10th and on the 8th of June the Colts put on a dog and pony show for the community of Galena and it was standing room only. The Colts practiced hard on the field and you could see the results from the performance and how the crowd yelled and clapped for them. It was 15 years since the Colts were here in Galena.

Marty was a great assest to the Colts and was there to help them set up that the first night in and get settled. Marty voluntered his time for Colts the entire time they were here in town.
